All Long Day

Today Rylie didn't want to go back to school, her plan was to stay home and "watch Bambi all long day." This is her new saying for all day long. She wants to do everything all long day. So tonight when we started our usual fight to go to sleep, she decided that she would pull the "I have to potty" bit and when she got on the toilet she said she was going to go "potty all long day." That would not have been very much fun for me, so we tried for 5 minutes then went back to bed. She was actually pretty good when Eric called to talk to her. She didn't let him talk, but she did talk to him. She said "hello, its me" over and over until I finally took the phone away. When she was in bed she asked where daddy was, I said daddy's gone and she says oh and that was that. I guess she understood that better than when I told her Wisconsin earlier today. I am just hoping she sleeps all night. Last night she woke up at 2am. We have just moved to bring her to bed with us when she does that, but tonight I won't be able to sleep if I do that, for fear that she will fall out of bed without the 2 of us to sleep between. I have to say the 2am is better than when she woke up at 4am a couple weekends ago, because she wanted to play horses with Grandma Disney. That morning we put her in bed with us turned on a video and went back to sleep. Someday she will be a teenager and learn the joys of sleeping in. I just hope that I can still sleep until noon at that point.

Just the Girls

Eric goes to Madison tomorrow for 3 days...so that means he is putting her to bed tonight. I think we are really going to have to be better about the rotating bed nights...it wears me out to put her to bed every night. He does do it about every 3rd night, but I think every other is fair. We went to Fleet Farm today and as soon as we walked in the store Rylie asked if we were going to see the horses. This is funny because we have only been to Fleet Farm once, recently, and we did look at the horses then, but she got her "Bambi's" that time. She was very serious about what horses she wanted today. She had some left over birthday money and we kept telling her that she could not get the horses at Target because Fleet Farm is like half the price. So she picked out the 2 she wanted. We told her she could have 3, but she only wanted 2. When we left we went to McDonald's for dinner. It use to be when ever she saw a McDonald's she wanted French Fries, but now she has learned they have something better than French Fries...chocolate shakes...or as Rylie calls it "ice cream cone". Not sure where she learned that, it use to be all ice cream was a chocolate malt. She also got some new socks today. This is the new fun thing to buy because Target sells socks with Disney characters (ie. Snow White, Ariel, etc). She got a Bambi and Thumper pair last week and I guess she kept taking off her shoes at daycare to show the teachers Bambi. They will love us now...she has enough for a different pair everyday. We'll she has been crying for a while, guess I could go check on Eric, he has not master the art of rubbing her head, leg, stomach and back. Or maybe I'll just vacuum;)

Oh no, I have to Pee!

I am so proud of Rylie's progress with potty training. She has now told me twice that she had to go potty in the potty. Saturday when she did it she not only pee-ed she pooped too! Then tonight she says "oh no, I have to pee" then she sat on the toilet for a couple minutes thinking, then gives me a big grin and the peepee comes. Now if only I could get her to go to sleep. Back to it.

Home from the Wedding

So we are home from Aunt Erin's Wedding. It was a fun filled weekend. I am not sure how much sleep Rylie missed out on but she actually went to bed and napped without any issues today. That is the first time in almost a month. She did walk down the aisle without crying, but dad did have to walk with her. She was pretty good through most the ceremony (it was an hour), and I had a tight hold on her so that she could not leave the front pew. I kept looking for Eric so that I could s end he r to sit with him after she lost her thrill of playing with my flowers after about 30 minutes, but he was no where to be found. The funny part was that when Eric did his reading he was talking about God creating cattle, or something to that fact, and Rylie Moo-ed. I didn't know she even knew that cattle were cows. I was wishing that she was just 1 year old, the 3 year old flower girls did great. They actually fell asleep during the ceremony. Oh to have been that lucky. I ended up having to carry her out of the Church so my groomsman got more than he bargained for. There were a few hundred (200-300) people who Eric then had to dismiss from the church so I got to carry our 30lb daughter in very uncomfortable shoes for about 30 more minutes. While I was in that pain all I could think about was how there was no way I was going to take the provided transportation to the reception. I was a car trailer on the back of a truck with hay bales to sit on...I was picturing me with hay fever covered in hives having to leave to go home as soon as we arrived at the reception, no way. Needless to say I rode in the van with Eric and Rylie...I am way to city for some of this stuff. Rylie had the time of her life at the reception , Eric and I did not.
S he was all over the place. She tried to take out the big screen for the slide show, apparently the DJ and Eric were the only ones who noticed. Eric went outside w ith her through most the speeches, because she was being so crazy and screaming. I think she got 4 time-outs before the dancing started. That was when the fun really began for Rylie (and it was fun for us to watch) she was all about the dancing. She was ready to dance with anyone who was ready and able, or else she would dance alone. She only got hurt a could times, when too many people were on the dance f loor, or when she got to dizzy from spinning and ran into the tables. All she talked about today was how she danced with Aunt Erin or that she danced with boys. It was a fun time, but we were so glad to be home so that all 5 of us (Nala and Kodi included) could finally get some sleep.

Finally a new dishwasher

So we got our new dishwasher today. Oh what a happy day, I think we only washed dishes by hand 3 times, but I don't want to have to do that again. It is funny how the little things can excite you, like not having the silverware in the door or being able to fit cookie sheets in the bottom with plates. But I am a little upset that I paid extra for the "good brand" and they didn't put that on the outside door, come on give me something to show off.

We leave for Iowa in the morning. Aunt Erin is finally getting married. Rylie is the flower girl, so I bought her some fancy socks to wear with the dress and she told me they were not for her they were baby socks...not sure what makes socks baby socks over big girl socks? Tonight Eric got to put her to bed, she actually was kind of good tonight. It had to be the PJ day at school, it can't be that she didn't have me to manipulate. The funny thing of the night was that she discovered that daddy is fuzzy (in other words he needs to shave).

What to do with an extra 9 hours a week?...

So tomorrow is my last day in my current position. I am staying with Target, but moving to a completely new job. The good part is that I will be so close to home now, and no more bus for me:) So as I was telling everyone about the fact that I was going to be saving 9 hours a week with commuting people asked what I was going to do with the extra time. One person said I needed to start a blog. So here I am. Now the question is will I really have time for this. If I was not spending 1-2 hours a night sitting in Rylie's room and telling her to get back in bed then maybe. I tell you the kid went to bed perfectly everynight and then she turned 2. We are going on week 3 of not going to bed. The nightly reason not to go to bed changes daily. Tonight we needed to sing, last night Eric took a turn so I don't really know the reason, the night before she told Eric he had to 'leave mommy and mimi (that is what Rylie calls herself) alone'. He took that well and left me to get her to sleep. The reason she wants us to be alone is that she can manipulate mom, all she has to say is 'mommy, I play with your hair' and I am all about letting her stay up. The sad thing is that she does this every night and I never get my hair played with. She takes the comb from me then give it right back and says 'thanks, welcome'. I let this continue because I know one of these days she will truly play with my hair. As we contiune down the not sleeping path I just think of a new reason why she will go to sleep tomorrow. So tomorrow is PJ party at daycare, she get to wear pajamas and bring her favorite stuffed animal (who is her puppy Cookie). Maybe that will may her sleepy tomorrow night? So with that said I'll end this. Maybe tomorrow I can tell everyone how she went to sleep without any issues. Not likely, I know.
